Privacy Policy

Effective June 13, 2026 · version 2026-06-13.v2

RoofMetric (roofmetric.ca) provides instant, estimated roof reports for properties in Kelowna and the Central Okanagan. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act(PIPA), and Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

Who we are

RoofMetric is the operator of this website and the organization responsible for the personal information collected through it. For any privacy question, or to access, correct, or withdraw your information, contact us at info@roofmetric.ca.

What we collect

  • The address you enter. Used to locate the building and generate a roof report. A free report shows only headline figures; the full report unlocks after you verify an email.
  • Contact details you provide to unlock the full report: your name and email, and your phone number if you choose to add it.
  • Consent records. If you opt in to be contacted by a roofer, we record that you consented, the wording you agreed to, the date and time, and the IP address the consent came from — this is the record CASL and BC PIPA require us to keep.
  • Technical data.Your IP address (for rate limiting and abuse prevention) and a single unlock token stored in your browser’s local storage so your unlocked report stays unlocked when you reload the page. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
  • The report itself — the roof measurements and analysis we generate for the address.

How we use it

  • To generate and deliver your roof report.
  • To verify your email address with a one-time 6-digit code (so reports go to a real inbox and to limit abuse — one free report per person).
  • To protect the service from automated abuse and to operate it reliably.
  • If, and only if, you check the consent box: to share your information with our roofing partner as described below.

When we share your information — and the choice you make

Your report unlocks whether or not you ask to be contacted. Sharing your details with a roofer is optional and off by default. If you check the box that reads, in substance:

“Yes — have a roofer contact me. I agree that RoofMetric may share my name, contact details, address, and this roof report with OK Roof Revival (Kelowna, BC), who may contact me by phone, email, or text about roofing services for my home.”

then we share your name, contact details, address, and roof report with OK Roof Revival (Kelowna, BC) so they can follow up about roofing services. This is a paid referral: OK Roof Revival may pay RoofMetric for qualified leads. We share your contact information with that partner only when you have given this express consent.

You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing info@roofmetric.ca. Withdrawal stops future sharing; it does not reach information already shared. Any message you receive from us or our partner will also offer a way to unsubscribe.

If you do not check the box, we do not sell or share your contact information for marketing. We never share it with anyone other than the partner named above and the service providers listed below.

Service providers

We rely on a small number of processors to run the service. They handle your information only on our instructions and only to provide their service:

  • Email delivery (Resend) — sends your verification code and report emails.
  • Address lookup (MapTiler, LocationIQ, and OpenStreetMap services) — converts the address you type into map coordinates.
  • Bot protection(Cloudflare Turnstile) — confirms you’re a person, not a script.
  • Hosting (Railway) — runs the website and stores its database.

Some of these providers operate outside Canada, including in the United States. When information is processed or stored in another country, it may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, and authorities in that country under their laws. We use providers that commit to protecting the information they handle for us.

How long we keep it

  • Verification codes expire within minutes and the pending record is cleared after use or expiry.
  • Cached address and building lookups are kept for up to 30 days to speed up repeat requests, then refreshed.
  • Reports and lead records (including consent records, where given) are retained while we operate the service and as needed to meet our legal obligations. You may ask us to delete your information; we will do so unless we are required to keep it.

Your rights

You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and you may withdraw consent to be contacted, by emailing info@roofmetric.ca. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your information, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Data sources

The roof reports are derived from open mapping data:

  • Building data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL)
  • Building footprints include data © Microsoft (ODbL)
  • Contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – British Columbia

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. When the consent wording changes, we record a new version so each consent ties back to the exact terms in force when it was given. The effective date and version at the top of this page reflect the current version.
